Every sound card must be configured and tested during installation. Owning the best external sound card, for example, does not matter if it will not work because of incorrect setup. To test your speaker configuration in Windows 7, simply right-click the Sound icon found at the system tray and click Playback devices. The Sound dialog box will appear. You will then choose the correct speaker under the Playback tab and click Configure. In Speaker Setup, choose the correct speaker configuration and click the Test button to check if a tone can be heard from each speaker. The number of configurations available depends on the sound card capabilities.
